The third one...

It's modern for one. The Shakespearean way of speaking takes the seriousness out of the lines to me. It should've modernized the lines too. The scene is brighter than the other two. King Hamlet doesn't know about personal space... He also doesn't seem very ghostly.

More notes

The second version just throws us into a chase. It was a bit too much. The ghost seemed eerie at first, but when his face is seen, he seems less scary and more campy. The scene of the conversation was dark as well. The whole movie seems to flow faster than the first, and I dislike that.

Notes on productions

The Zeffirelli version of Hamlet ( at least in the ghost scene) is crazy dark. The actors convey the emotions behind their words pretty well. But all I can really see is shadows and pale white-people's faces. My only critique is MAKE IT BRIGHTER!!!
