The "To be or not to be" speech is literally Hamlet's angst being put to words. The first lines, "To be or not to be: that is the question", I interpreted as, "Life or death, which is better?" Practically every line of it is Hamlet whining about suicide. I understand his father's death has got him all shook up, but if I were him, I'd try to live for both my father and myself. I would never default to killing myself, and definitely wouldn't contemplate it every twenty seconds. My God is Hamlet an angst-ridden kid. Of course I do not know what it's like to lose a parent, let alone a father (can't lose what you don't have, lol). But, I'd never, ever, EVER contemplate killing myself. Especially not as often as Hamlet does. Go ahead, kill your uncle and exact revenge. But, don't kill yourself! You won't be able to enjoy your victory.
Side note: I can TOTALLY see Hamlet as an emo cutting himself in his room wile unrelentingly listening to Crawling by Linkin Park.
Genius.
